Welcome, Mr. Rivera, our New Interim Principal!

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Mr. Sal Rivera has agreed to serve as the interim principal for Spring Hill Elementary School effective Monday, August 10, 2020.

Mr. Rivera has deep connections to Fairfax County Public Schools having served as principal for 17 years at Flint Hill Elementary School in the Madison pyramid. During his distinguished tenure at the school, he was instrumental in the school-wide expansion of advanced academics. He also established a nationally recognized community environmental conservation education program at Flint Hill Elementary School. Since his retirement in 2018, he has served as an interim principal with Prince William County Public Schools and as a principal mentor with the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

His collective years of commitment and passion for public education and his extensive knowledge of teaching, learning, and school administration will enable him to effectively serve the students, families, and staff at Spring Hill Elementary School. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Rivera, who is energized and excited to support the Spring Hill community.

Ms. Aiello and Mr. Rivera have already been in touch with each other and will remain in close coordination to ensure a smooth transition.

I am in contact with the FCPS Department of Human Resources and will communicate with you soon regarding selection procedures for the new principal of Spring Hill Elementary School.
