English Language Arts
Outcome: 100% of all 3rd grade students will be reading on or above grade level as measured by the SOL, VGA, WIDA and/or iReady or effectively showing a year or more of growth in reading using those same assessment tools. |
Goal: All students will be literate, able to obtain, understand, analyze, integrate, communicate and apply knowledge and skills to achieve success in school and in life. |
Strategy 1: Improve daily, systematic, explicit instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, and morphology in the core language arts block. (HLP 2) |
Strategy 2: Expand use of skills-based grouping to ensure students demonstrate mastery of foundational skills. (HLP 2, 5) |
Strategy 3: Improve use of interactive read alouds for building knowledge and vocabulary through texts that affirm students' lived experiences. (HLP 1, 3) |
Mathematics
Outcome: 100% of 5th grade students with IEPs will pass the 5th grade math SOL or show at least a year of measurable growth through the iReady or VGA. |
Goal: All students will acquire numeracy skills in order to use mathematics in a wide rage of situations |
Strategy 1: Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention. |
Strategy 2: Increase students' self-efficacy around the ability to be successful in mathematics. |
Strategy 3: Small Group Tier 3 instruction that targets specific math skills through evidenced based instruction 4 to 5 times a week. |
School Selected
Outcome: Every student will acquire critical and creative thinking skills, meet/exceed high academic standards, and achieve their highest academic potential. |
Goal: 100 percent of all students will reach proficiency by the end of the 2022-23 school year in their ability to reflect on growth of a selected POG attribute and ability to reflect on the importance of a POG attribute. [I grew and here is why it matters]. |
Strategy 1: Provide staff with professional development around POG POL strategies & skills throughout the 23-24 school year. |
Strategy 2: Implement structured format for implementation of POG POL process to support tracking student POG POL skill/attribute progress. |
