Mornings at Spring Hill
Spring Hill mornings are full of anticipation, community and catching up with teachers and friends. As students enter the building, they are greeted by our admin team and teachers. Some sleepily wave and continue on to class, some head to the cafeteria for breakfast, and some excitedly stop to tell Principal Eck or another teacher about their latest soccer game. They filter into their classrooms after getting greeted by their teacher at the doorway and they slowly unpack their bags while catching up with their classmates.
Once they get settled in, they read the morning directions that have been posted ahead of time on the board by the teacher and get right to work. Morning work is important, not only to help the students independently practice skills that they are learning in class, but also to help them get their brains warmed up and ready for the learning and work they will tackle throughout the rest of the day.
As students complete morning work, many of them choose to pick up a favorite book while others prefer to engage in enrichment or independent skill practice activities on the computer. Finally, all students participate in the pledge of allegiance and the school wide moment of silence before listening to the morning announcements and then going to the classroom rug for Morning Meeting.
